Algebra 1 and Grade 8 Math (2023-2024)

           All math classes in the high school will be using the following categories and weighting when grading math students.

            Classwork is worth 15% of the marking period grade. Any work assigned to be completed in class will be graded in this category.  

            Homework will be assigned every night and is worth 15% of the grade for the marking period. Completed homework receives 10 out of 10 points. Incomplete homework receives 5 out of 10 points. 8 out of 10 points are given when an incomplete assignment is completed. Late homework will be given 6.5 out of 10 points. It is imperative that the students complete homework nightly! 

            Tests comprise 40% of the marking period grade. There will be three tests during a marking period. All tests will be announced in class and on the class website at least three days prior to the test date.

            Quizzes comprise 30% of the marking period grade and may not be announced. There will usually be five or six quizzes during a marking period.

(Students will be allowed to retake a tests and quizzes once to improve a low test grade. The retest must be scheduled and taken after school or during a lunch or study hall.)
